Stereotyping/Leaders/Cliques Articles
Due at the end of class.
-All articles must be from a professional medium. You may use blogs if they are written by a professional in that field and the statistic are taken from quality studies.
-Each article must be summarized for me. At least 4-5 sentences.
-Each reflection much be of quality but does not have to be too long. I do not want "yes, I agree". Give me something.
1. Stereotyping -
Think of some very common high school stereotypes (at least 3). Find articles, one for each stereotype, (professional/blogs written by professionals) that denounce these claims. Write a paragraph summarizing the article then reflect.
Ex: All Jocks are stupid - Find articles that tell how many athletes are scholars.
2. Leaders: Are leaders born or made?
Find an article that defends both of these theories. Summarize articles and reflect
3. How are cliques form? How early can they start? What type of damage can they do to a kid?
Find article that answer these questions. Summarize and reflect.
4. Does parent behavior ultimately reflect on the growth, mentally, of the child? i.e pressure for good grades, divorce, abuse, lack of attention.
5. Find at least 2 articles that speaks of the outcomes to children who are living in certain situations. Ex: An article explaining what becomes of kids who grow up in a household with parents with high expectations?
